DG Multilingual Services was born out of a passion for languages and for breaking down communication barriers, with the objective of offering high-quality language services to help companies communicate effectively with their customers and succeed at expanding internationally.

 

My name is Daniel González Bernardo and I trade under the brand name "DG Multilingual Services". I am a highly-qualified linguist with vast experience in translation, localisation and marketing/business development.

 

Apart from being a certified Spanish translator (you can find more details on my qualifications below), I also have extensive experience in marketing, international business and export. This experience has provided me with a set of skills that will allow me to support you beyond the linguistic scope and provide you with translations (and advice) to help you grow your business internationally.

I have now worked as a freelance translator and reviewer for nearly a decade, successfully helping hundreds of companies with their translation, transcreation and localisation needs. Quality and customer satisfaction are the two main pillars of my business and I strive to achieve the right result to help you communicate effectively in Spanish. My constant search for quality has led me to collaborate as an exam assessor for the Institute of Translation and Interpreting, in the UK, marking entry exams by new candidates. This role carries a lot of responsibility, since it is of paramount importance to be accurate and follow ITI's quality guidelines, in order to make sure that only the brightest of candidates become qualified members.

 

Apart from having extensive experience as a linguist, I worked for more than 6 years at the Export Department of a major British manufacturer of mobility products, where I had the role of Spanish In-House translator and produced a wide range of translations for the company, from technical manuals to marketing texts. I later became the Rest of the World Team Leader and, ultimately, Business Development Assistant Manager. Those years provided me with invaluable experience, not only in the field of translation in general, but also on marketing, advertising, export, eCommerce and technical documentation. Working in-house with an expert marketing team, as well as designing and implementing new strategies to develop the business in many different markets worldwide, allowed me to get a deeper insight into marketing processes and into international business than most freelance translators have the chance to.

 

With DG Multilingual Services I wanted to combine all my past expertise and offer language services directly to businesses, with no intermediate steps, complementing the languages and set of skills that I possess with the languages and skills of other trusted colleagues.

 

I realised that many companies who require translations as part of their internationalisation strategy are not getting full support from the language service providers they use, getting instead a one-size-fits-all solution that is not really suited to their needs. Corporate translations cannot generally be undertaken in isolation, as loose words with nothing behind them, but we should be looking at the wider picture and taking into account the company's strategy and branding, and adapting it to the target market as necessary.
